amypoehler:

Everything about Amy Poehler is impishly angelic. This delightful juxtaposition runs deeply through her comedy, as well, starting with the stark contrast between her appearance and love of raunchy humor. A Massachusetts native, expletives come naturally to her. She follows each shocking and Boston-accented “f*ckin’ asshole” (words she has uttered on many talk shows, to the audience’s delight) with a full-bodied and gleeful laugh. “Poehler’s laugh begins as a chuckle and crescendos to a side-splitting guffaw,” describes Sean Evans of the Daily News. However, her adorableness is not cloyingly sweet nor that of a girlish people-pleaser, but rather a misleading outer appearance that makes her raunchiness and ridiculousness all the more comedic. x

On September 17, David Letterman was the first comedian to return to the air. His opening monologue has been called ”one of the purest, most honest and important moments in TV history.” Toward the end of his remarks, he gave voice to the utter confusion many Americans felt: “We’re told they were zealots fueled by religious fervor. Religious fervor. And if you live to be a thousand years old, will that make any sense to you? Will that make any goddamn sense?” The full clip of Letterman’s opening remarks can be seen here and the full transcript is here.

Over the weekend you may have heard of or seen - nude photos of celebrities were stolen off of their phones and posted online. It’s a terrible invasion of privacy, but probably the most disconcerting part of this for me is that some people are blaming the celebrities for having the nude photos on their phones in the first place.

Kudos to Seth Myers for making smart, responsible comedy about the nude photo theft.
